Inspired by the Vision of Swami Dayanand Saraswati

Swami Dayanand Saraswati (1824–1883), the founder of Arya Samaj, was a pioneering Hindu reformer and Vedic scholar. He challenged blind faith, idol worship, and ritualism, urging a return to the original teachings of the Vedas. His book Satyarth Prakash critically examined various religions, promoting rational thinking and spiritual clarity. In 1876, he gave the powerful call for "Swarajya – India for Indians," inspiring the freedom movement.

His philosophy emphasized truth, self-discipline, and service to humanity. The ten principles of Arya Samaj highlight values like knowledge, unity, civic responsibility, and moral living. He believed the soul (atma) was divine and that serving society was a higher goal than personal liberation (moksha).

Swami Dayanand advocated for social reforms such as the abolition of untouchability, dowry, and sati. He championed women's education, equality, cow protection, and the adoption of Hindi for national integration. Through yoga, teaching, and preaching, he awakened spiritual and national consciousness, earning praise from leaders like S. Radhakrishnan and Sri Aurobindo.

Born into a zamindar family in pre-partition India, Late Shri Jai Dev Hasija Vanprasthi's life was marked by resilience and perseverance. The upheaval of partition brought him to India, where he navigated new challenges with unwavering resolve. His early life was shaped by displacement, but it also laid the foundation for a journey of determination and service.

In 1947, he completed his Matriculation in Pakistan, but the partition disrupted his plans for higher education. Two years later, in 1949, he began his professional career with the Indian Railways. With dedication and hard work, he rose through the ranks to retire honorably in 1979 as a Senior Inspector, earning the respect of his peers.

After retirement, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish a business serving the Indian Railways. This venture laid the foundation for CBM Industries, which grew under his leadership to a turnover exceeding INR 100 million—a testament to his vision and business acumen.

In 2005, he embraced the Vanprasthi phase of life, dedicating himself to social causes. His contributions to our school and the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram were profound. Even at 82, his energy inspired all, and his legacy continues to guide and uplift those he touched.

From Humble Beginnings to Inspiring Heights

The Journey of Our School

Shri Jai Dev Hasija Vanprasthi, a devoted member of Arya Samaj Ved Mandir, Mohan Kund, Gurgaon, sparked a movement of change through a simple yet profound moment. In 2004, during one of his daily walks, he noticed underprivileged children playing marbles near an under-construction site. This sight moved him deeply and ignited a powerful question: why couldn't these children be given the opportunity to learn and grow through education?

Driven by this vision, Shri Hasija began a humble yet impactful initiative—starting a small school within the Arya Samaj Ved Mandir premises. With support from Sunil, a night-shift worker, and just six students, the school took its first steps. Soon, women from the Abhilasha group, including Mrs. Neelam Bhatia and Mrs. Uma Kapoor, joined the cause, offering their time and guidance. The movement gained strength, with generous support from Mrs. Anu Chandani and the formation of the Maharishi Dayanand Education Society, enabling structured growth.

By 2008, the school had grown to nearly 60 students. It was formally incorporated under the Maharishi Dayanand Education Society and registered with Income Tax authorities for official recognition. The first annual function in 2008, attended by then Municipal Commissioner Mr. Rajeev Sharma, brought attention to the school's noble efforts. With continuous dedication from Shri Hasija, Mrs. Bhatia, and Mrs. Kapoor, the school's foundation strengthened, and its reach expanded.

Thanks to consistent support from individuals like Dr. D.P. Maini, Shri Kanhaiya Lal Ji Arya, and Retd. Air Commodore Mr. C.M. Singla, the school's infrastructure developed significantly. Today, it serves over 235 students across 7 classes, with a dedicated team of 12 teachers. The school stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment—built upon the selfless vision of Shri Hasija. His legacy lives on, inspiring generations to rise through education and compassion.

Our roots trace back to the premises of Arya Samaj Mandir, where we started with a handful of eager minds. Classes were conducted on verandas and open spaces, driven by the unwavering commitment to impart knowledge. Dr. Dharam Pal Maini, our esteemed Senior Patron, and Dr. Praveen Kumar, the then administrator of HUDA, played pivotal roles in crafting the present infrastructure that stands as a testament to progress.
